Indian Fry Bread
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons salt
2 level tablespoons solid crisco shortening
Preparation:
Using your hands, work Crisco into the dried ingredients until very well mixed.
Slowly add enough warm water to make a dough. Knead for about 5 minutes. Let it rest 10 minutes or so. Divide the dough into balls and flatten them out by hand or using rolling pin. Fry 'em up.
Serving Suggestions:
There's always honey or powdered sugar if you want a sweet something on top.
For a savory choice top with refried beans and enchilada sauce and melt cheese on top. Top with chili rojo or verde and queso.
