Dark Chocolate Fondue with Assorted Fruit & Biscotti

Fondue is back and dessert is the name of the game! Forget about the days of lingering over after dinner drinks; everyone will be thrilled to dally over this rich, warm chocolate dip while nibbling away on fresh seasonal fruit and biscotti. And what better way to feed a chocolate craving than this fun and healthy dish!Although many restaurants and recipes often feel the need to add liqueur, usually in the form of brandy, here the flavor enhancer is orange zest which adds a lovely aroma and combines so well with the assorted fruit. The most important part is always the chocolate, don't skimp in this department. Use the finest dark chocolate you can find. It will make all the difference!

Ingredients:

8 ounces good quality dark chocolate (bitter or semisweet), chopped
1 cup heavy cream (a touch more for thinning, if necessary)
1 teaspoon finely grated orange zest

Preparation:

In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, bring the cream to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low, add the chopped chocolate and zest, and whisk until glossy. Immediately transfer to a fondue pot set to low heat, or use a gravy warmer with a candle source. Serve with arranged, cut fruit and biscotti, with skewers for dipping. Dipping Suggestions: whole strawberries, bananas cut into rounds, kiwi peeled and diced, orange sections, starfruit sliced, dried apricots, purchased or homemade biscotti.
