Ginger Snap Cookies In A Jar

If you're feeling adventurous and want to add to the beauty of this gift, split the three cups of flour between the brown sugar and ground ginger. Place one and a half cups of flour in the bottom, then top that with a layer of brown sugar and ginger, and finally top it off with the last cup and a half of flour.

Jar Ingredients:

3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 Tablespoon ground ginger

Instructions:

The other ingredients needed for the recipe are:

3/4 cup shortening
1 cup molasses
1/2 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cloves or 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large bowl, cream shortening and white sugar. Beat in the molasses.
Slowly blend in the dry ingredients. Cover bowl and place in the refrigerator for four hours.

On floured surface, rollout dough into a 2-inch thick log. Cut into rounds and place on greased cookie sheets.

Bake for 10-12 minutes until they start to darken and are firm to the touch.
