Oat Bread
Ingredients:
2 tablespoon butter, melted
1/2 cup honey
1 tablespoon salt
1/3 cup lukewarm water
2 pkgs. yeast varieties
2 cup boiling water
1 cup rolled oats
4 to 5 cup all-purpose flour
Preparation:
Soak rolled oats in 2 cups of boiling water for at least 30 minutes. Add butter to hot water and oats. Dissolve yeast in 1/3 cup water; add honey and salt. Add this mixture to oats. Mix thoroughly. Add flour, 1 cup at a time, until dough is kneadable.
Allow to rise until doubled. Make into loaves. Allow to double in loaf pans. Bake at 325 degrees for 50 minutes. May glaze with egg and water if desired. Makes 2 loaves.
