Colorful Multi-Bean Soup In A Jar

Layer the beans by color into a quart canning jar. Place the seasonings in a plastic sandwich bag, tie with string and place it on top of the beans.

Jar Ingredients:

2/3 cup dry red beans
2/3 cup Navy beans
2/3 cup dry black beans
2/3 cup dry split peas

Seasoning Bag:

1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dried onion powder
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon dried chives
1 teaspoon celery salt

Instructions:

Add one 16-ounce can of stewed tomatoes to this recipe.

Rinse beans in a colander and place in a bowl of water to soak for four hours at room temperature.

Pour beans into colander, rinse again and place them along with stewed tomatoes into pot with three quarts of water.

Bring water to a boil, lower heat and simmer on low for two hours. Add contents of seasoning bag into pot and stir thoroughly.
